Prime Minister Rugunda, Minister Bahati join the COVID-19 cause

Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda and the minister of state for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, David Bahati have offered the 20milllion shillings allocated to each legislator to the Kabale district Covid-19 task force.

They duo also donated 30 tonnes of Maize flour to help fight Coronavirus. The donations were made by their representatives.

Their move followed President Yoweri Museveni’s advise to all MPs to hand over sh 20 million they received to do Covid: 19 pandemic fight.

Dr. Ndugu Rugunda is also the Head of the National Corona Task Force and Bahati a Member of his Committee. Mr. Bahati is the MP for Ndorwa West and NRM Chairman for Kabale District.

Dr. Rugunda and Bahati urged the district leadership to stay focused and fight the pandemic.

They each handed over 20 Million Ugandan Shillings in Cash to the Kabale District Corona Task Force headed by Mr. Darius Nandinda the Kabale RDC.

Mr. Emma Ninsiima Bigiirwa the PA to the Prime Minister of Uganda together with Mr Wilber Kanyesigye PA to Hon Min David Bahati handed over the cash on behalf of their bosses in a function that was held at Kabale Rukiiko Hall yesterday.

The hand over was witnessed by Mr. Besigye Keihwa  the Kabale LC5 boss and other district officials. The district task force was saluted for the good work so far and advised to utilize the money for the purpose it has been set out to do by government.

The sh.20 million funds given by parliament has caused fights between the three arms of Government as the speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has insisted that the MPs keep and use the money as they had earlier planned.

“Thank God the leaders Dr. Rugunda and Hon Bahati have set a great example for other national leaders on this cause, we shall also do our best to fight Covid:19,” Keihwa stated.
