Dr. Sylivia Alinaitwe Mwanaki launches bid for Rukiga Woman MP seat, pledges economic transformation

Rukiga, Uganda — Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe Mwanaki, the Deputy Managing Director of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), has officially declared her candidacy for the Rukiga Woman Member of Parliament seat, urging residents to embrace wealth creation and financial empowerment.

She addressed a large crowd during a homecoming event at Kantale in Rukiga District on Friday, emphasizing the need for strategic interventions to boost household incomes. Alinaitwe highlighted the recently established coffee factory as a key milestone, ensuring farmers have a reliable market for immediate payment and reducing exploitation by middlemen.

The aspirant also promised to expand cash-saving initiatives by supporting local Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs), including the Akabox program, which she introduced in 2019. Additionally, she vowed to promote peace and unity in Rukiga while backing President Yoweri Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) manifesto.

Calling her political entry a new chapter in her leadership journey, Alinaitwe expressed confidence in collective progress through community collaboration. She aims to challenge incumbent MP Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi, who has held the seat since 2017.

Alinaitwe further praised President Museveni’s leadership, pledging to uphold the NRM’s values of patriotism and development. “Inspired by his vision, we shall work together to elevate Rukiga’s prosperity under the NRM banner,” she stated.

The drums of change have come to Rukiga and the locals are determined to vote Dr.  Alinaitwe in the next elections to replace Hon Kamusiime C Muhweezi.  Should some one try to resits this, the winds of change will sweep him to the cliff.

The young men as well are also determined to kick Hon Bish Ndyomugyenyi the MP for Rukiga out over lack of performance, Alex Magezi Kanuga and Dr Francis Byamukama are among the big competitors for Rukiga MP seat(male).
