A total of 417,950000 shillings both in cash and pledges last evening was raised during the Diocese of Kigezi Bishop’s Development Fund (BDF), dinner that was held at Kembabazi Catering Center Naguru in Kampala.
During the colorful function that was presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi Rt. Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, the money was raised from different Christians under Diocese of Kigezi, Kampala Chapter and other few invited guests from outside the Diocese.
The Deputy Managing Director of National Water and Sewerage Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe through her friends raised 100 million shillings cash and her family contributed 30 million shillings cash, whereas Counsel Caleb Amanya who presided over as the Chief Guest contributed 10 million shillings.
The Minister of State for Trade, Industries and Cooperatives Hon David Bahati together with his family contributed 50 million shillings to the project.
The Rukiga County MP Rolland Ndyomugyenyi Bish contributed 10 million shillings. The Rubanda West County MP through his brother Mr Sunday Emmanuel delivered contributed 3 million shillings, whereas Mr. Sunday himself contributed 2 million shillings.
The Rubanda district Woman MP Hon Prosy Akampurira Begumisa Mbabazi and the family contributed 3 million shillings through the husband Mr. Apollo
Mbabazi who was present.
The Former Kabale district Woman MP Hon Ninsiima Ronah Rita contributed 3 million shillings, whereas Counsel Elvis Twenda of Ndorwa East contributed 2 million shillings cash.
Counsel Eliab Mporera contributed 1.5 million shillings, Hon Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema contributed 1 million shillings cash and Hon Grace Ankunda Bwesigye contributed 1 million shillings.
And several other people who are not in active politics contributed huge amounts of money ranging from ten million shillings to 5 million shillings.
The Head of Laity Canon Johnson Baryantuma Munono said that the Diocese need 3.1 billion shillings for the establishment of a Mall at the plots of the diocese opposite Active supermarket in Kabale town.
