A political storm is brewing in Uganda following the explosive online exchange between General Muhoozi Kainerugaba and long-time Lwemiyaga MP, Theodore Ssekikubo. What began as a bold tweet from Muhoozi — calling Ssekikubo his “butler” — has now turned into a full-blown political warning, with one of Muhoozi’s closest allies stepping into the ring.
Speaking out publicly, Muhoozi’s loyal supporter didn’t hold back. “It was a big mistake to attack Gen Muhoozi. Let this be the last warning to everyone out there,” he warned. His statement, clearly aimed at Ssekikubo and any other critics of the First Son, sent shockwaves through Uganda’s political circles. Another Muhoozi insider echoed the same message, saying, “It was a grave mistake to attack Gen Muhoozi. Let this serve as a lesson to all of you.”
The warning follows Muhoozi’s now-viral tweet where he wrote: “Ssekikubo, you are disrespecting me by not coming back to carry my briefcase. You were and will ALWAYS be my butler.” The tweet triggered massive online reactions, with many questioning the choice of words, while others saw it as a calculated move to publicly humiliate a political rival.
Ssekikubo, a known critic within the ruling NRM party, has never shied away from challenging authority. But this time, it seems he may have crossed a line. According to insiders close to Muhoozi, Ssekikubo’s continued attacks were “unwise” and “disrespectful,” especially considering Muhoozi’s rising influence both in military and political spaces.
The warning from Muhoozi’s inner circle is being interpreted by many as a clear message: challenging the General comes with consequences. It also reflects the deepening rift within the NRM party, especially as Uganda heads toward the 2026 elections.
Ssekikubo has remained silent so far, but pressure is mounting. Supporters of Muhoozi are already celebrating what they see as the beginning of Ssekikubo’s political downfall, especially after he recently lost the NRM party flag to Brig. Gen. (Rtd) Emmanuel Rwashande in Lwemiyaga.
Whether Ssekikubo responds or not, one thing is clear: Muhoozi’s camp is sending a loud and intimidating message — they will not tolerate open defiance. And for those who dare to speak out, they may face more than just harsh words.
Meanwhile Ssekikubo has started to lament that he has been abandoned by President Museveni on the last minute. He shared his disgruntlement to the media yesterday.
