Locals cry to government over the malfunctional Kicumbi gravity water scheme of Kamugaguzi in Ndorwa West -Kabale

Locals of Ndorwa West Constituency in Kabale district have asked the ministry of Water and environment to come to their rescue and repair the Kicumbi gravity water scheme of Kamugaguzi sub county of Ndorwa West in Kabale district.

“For now, nearly two years the above gravity scheme is not serving the people. This includes the big population including a secondary school, primary school and a medical facility.

At one time, there was a Pakistan company – Yogi that interfered with the system and left over 2 km of HDPE distribution pipe dry”.

The locals and the source added “the catchment area for the source is not well protected.

The source said this gravity scheme which was constructed over twenty-five years back to serve the community is now useless and waterborne diseases have multiplied among the community.

“The affected community calls upon the Ministry of Water to come to their aid and repair the gravity water scheme and save the community from drinking dirty water” the source added.

Our source said he once worked for Water Development Department and National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) and retired 20 years ago.

L C 1 officials complained that although the community supports the ruling NRM party they are suffering with many water born diseases due to lack of clean water.

“We appeal to the NRM government to repair our Kicumbi gravity water scheme, we pledge continued support to the NRM government and leaders” one Mugisha said.
