State Minister for Privatization and Investment, Hon. Mukalazi made the remarks during factory monitoring visits where she assessed production, employment and export potential as well as challenges facing manufacturers.
Mukalazi was impressed by the innovation at Modern Laminates Limited, whose diversified product portfolio and commitment to circular economy models position it as a reliable source for resilient, traceable fiber inputs serving packaging and specialty applications in East Africa.

I commend their innovation relying on BAMBOO plants – which are genetically developed here in Uganda, demonstrating the potential for sustainable local value addition’’, Minister Mukalazi said.
Accompanied by Diana Mutasingwa, the Buikwe District Woman MP and Minister of State in the Office of the Vice President, Mukalazi was impressed with manufacturers for using locally sourced inputs and which has improved the quality of Ugandan-made products, saying stronger domestic production is critical to creating jobs, expanding exports and reducing reliance on imports.
This investment of USD 90 Million is a clear indication that Uganda’s industrialization agenda is firmly on the right path, driving manufacturing capacity and job creation.
