He says when they are home they look like an institution( school). they are over 60 children and that his father who first feared contracting HIV/IDS when it was discovered in the early 1990s) some how has been moving around( sleeping) and has such a big number of children. He wonders/ wondered how his father has survived contracting HIV/AIDS when some people who were not so promiscuous died of AIDS.
He said( my friend speaking about the dad) what is funny about this he has sisters and brothers who are almost from every tribe in Uganda and that even in his 90s he is still fathering children and that new ones should be able to surface when he eventually passes on. As mothers line up their children to show to the family.
What he did not tell however is that when they are home which language they use. But being that Luganda has become a more central and more used language, maybe they speak Luganda.
He said that his father- The old man is now weak can not walk well due to old age.
He said he father is a tall huge guy maybe could be the reason women have slept with him to get ‘a strong seed’. But that my friends mother struggled a lot to take him to school and raise him and his mothers children.
Just like the case with many African polygamous dads( fathers) women have to struggle to raise their children as they compete to make or prepare the future of their children and fathers in such homes only produce and children struggle to grow and survive( ekyana kyembata as it is termed in Uganda). This is a true story.
