DESCRIPTION

______________

According to Matthew 25:1-8, The virgins were all waiting for the bridegroom, in Bible prophecy a woman is used in reference to the church, so Christ is the bridegroom and we are the bride( see: Isaiah 54:5, 1Cor 6:17) all the virgins were waiting for the bridegroom, so also all Christians are waiting for the second coming of Jesus, However, the wise took extra oil waiting, while the foolish did not take extra oil yet all were waiting for the bridegroom,

some where wise and others were foolish….the waiting period describes the period before the return of Christ; many will slack because of the delay (See: 2 Peter 3:3-14)

The oil keeps the lamp burning to produce light.. the Bible says

Leviticus 24:2

“Command the people of Israel to bring you PURE OIL of pressed olives FOR the LIGHT, to keep the LAMPS BURNING CONTINUALLY.” (Emphasis)

Beloved, pay close attention here: the oil keeps the lamp burning for the light continually…in the same way it is the Holy Spirit that makes the Word of God alive in and through us for others to see Jesus in our lives as we walk by faith.

The WORD is the lamp that burns to give light… the scriptures says;

“Is not My WORD like FIRE,” declares the LORD,..” Jeremiah 23:29a

All they virgins had the lamp, equally all Christians have the Word of God; Scriptures or Bible, and the truth of the Word makes them to confess Jesus (See: Rom 10:9, 1Cor 12:3) and thus they were all referred to as virgins with the lamps, Somewhere WISE and others were FOOLISH… What does it mean to be wise and what does it mean to be foolish?

WISE AND FOOLISH

____________________

Brethren, Jesus said;

“Therefore everyone who HEARS these WORDS of mine and PUTS them INTO PRACTICE is like a WISE MAN who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24 (Emphasis)

The Wise hears the Word of God and puts it into practice, he allows the word to burn in his heart like fire, the fear of the Lord guides the steps of such a person. The Wise put their trust in the Lord even in dark and turbulent moments, even in difficult times the Wise put the Word into practice trusting God, this is why the Wise virgins had EXTRA OIL for the time of delay. For the Holy Spirit will flow in the hearts of those who surrender to do His Word.

Have you surrended your heart to follow Jesus?……Be wise!!

The FOOLISH virgins are those who hear the Word but do not put it into practice… Jesus said;

“But everyone who hears these words of mine and DOES NOT PUT them INTO PRACTICE is like a FOOLISH MAN who built his house on sand.” Matthew 7:26(Emphasis)

When you profess to be a Christian yet live in disobedience then you acting foolish… the Bible says:

“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good” Psalms14:1

Brethren, when we profess to know God yet live in disobedience we will be acting like “the fool who said there’s no God” because our works or deeds will be the same: corrupt, their actions are evil. The Bible says;

James 1:22 NLT

“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.”

The FOOLISH virgins represents Christians who live in disobedience, the foolish virgins run out of oil in their lamps and hence their light went off. Sin quenches the Spirit’s power in us, and thus Christians are Commanded to walk in holiness before the LORD(See: 1 Peter 1:15-16).

The Bible says

“Do not put out the Spirit’s fire;” 1 Thess 5:19

A continuous life of Sin and rebellion though One may claim to know God is like the foolish virgins who had NO extra oil, their lamps went off, you cannot see Jesus in their lives… the Bible says;

Titus 1:16 NLT

“Such people claim they know God, but they deny Him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.”

Brethren, don’t be caught unawares as a “foolish” Christian living in sin or disobedience when Jesus returns,.. the Lord says;

Luke 6:46

“So why do you keep calling Me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?

The “Foolish” do not obey Jesus but keep calling Him Lord and claim to know Him this is why on the Judgement day Jesus will say to them;

Matthew 7:21

“Not everyone who calls out to Me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only THOSE who ACTUALLY DO the WILL OF MY FATHER in heaven will enter.” (Emphasis)

Beloved, those who actually do the will of God will enter, this is why in the parable of the ten virgins, it was only the Wise virgins that entered, they foolish virgins came knocking..

the Bible says

Matthew 25:11-12

“Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’

“But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’

Brethren, if you are living in sin or disobedience towards God professing to be a Christian then you are a foolish virgin or false brethren, it is the will of God to put our trust in Jesus and the results of putting our faith in Jesus is obedience which comes through the Holy spirit, like the foolish virgin if you live in disobedience then you are unprepared when the bridegroom(Jesus) comes and he will say he does not know you… Jesus in the last days will say to the foolish virgins or false brethrens; the Bible says

Matthew 7:22-23

“On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’

But I will reply, ‘I NEVER KNEW YOU. Get away from me, you who BREAK GOD’S LAW.’” (Emphasis)

Jesus will reply ‘I NEVER KNEW YOU”, The same reply He gave to the foolish virgins(See:Matt 25:12), when you live in disobedience or lawlessness as a professed Christian then you are unprepared, like a foolish virgin when Jesus returns.

They foolish virgins did not have oil in their lamps, so their lamps went off but they Wise had their lamps still burning because they had oil.

Jesus said;

“Be dressed for service and KEEP your LAMPS BURNING,” Luke 12:35(Emphasis)

Keep your lamps burning… Heaven is counting on you…

~ Keep loving

~ Keep sharing the gospel

~ keep praying

~ keep fasting

~ Keep meditating on the Word

~ Keep living Holy

~ keep trusting

~ keep hoping

~ keep the faith

My brothers and sisters; keep your lamps burning and prepared for the second coming of Jesus…

Jesus said;

Luke 12:35-37

“Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning,

as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks.

The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded. I tell you the truth, he himself will seat them, put on an apron, and serve them as they sit and eat!”

Examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith, are you living a life of a Wise virgin( Christian) or you are living a life of a foolish virgin. The Bible says;

Ephesians 5:15 NLT

“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.”

PRAYER

~~~~~
Remain blessed!!
Keep your lamps burning ….King Jesus is coming back soon
