The Gunners almost secured bragging rights for the ages in north London a few weeks ago – had Spurs taken points away from Manchester City and helped Arsenal wrap up the Premier League title in May.

While that did not happen,

 Arsenal

fans could now secure a different type of bragging right by signing a fantastic player who

 Tottenham

offloaded for nothing…

in Portugal now reveals that Arsenal want to sign Sporting CP No.10

 Marcus Edwards

.Tottenham allowed the man from Enfield to join Vitoria de Guimaraes on a free transfer back in September 2019 in exchange for 50% of any future sale, as detailed by the

 Telegraph

.Now – according to O Jogo – Sporting CP could sell Edwards after he fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim, with the Portuguese tactician not as trusting of the winger as he previously was, while Francisco Trincao has moved ahead in the pecking order.

The Portuguese news outlet also believe Tottenham are keen to re-sign the Englishman, so there could be a north London battle to sign the 25-year-old this summer.

Edwards made 44 appearances in total for Sporting CP throughout the 2023/24 campaign, scoring six goals while also providing nine assists.

While Tottenham would ideally like to sign Edwards ahead of Arsenal – according to O Jogo’s story – Spurs would still benefit financially if the attacking midfielder moved to the Emirates Stadium instead.

Tottenham ensured the sell-on clause remained active when Edwards moved from Vitoria de Guimaraes to Sporting CP in January 2022.

It has since dropped from the aforementioned 50% down to 35% – after Tottenham agreed to hand 15% back when signing Pedro Porro from Sporting CP in January 2023.
