Petitioner Habasa says the province promised to reconcile leaders
Maybe he was joking, how could he dare and think that he could use court or other means to cause a siting Bishop of the Church of Uganda to resign.
As it would be, as you read this Nelson Habasa has withdrawn a petition, he sent to the Church of Uganda Province threatening that the Kigezi Docese Bishop Gad Akajuna be forced to resign over alleged lack of academic qualification.
He sent the petition about two months ago and was also threatening to go to court where he wanted to drag the Archbishop Mugalu Stephen Kazimba.
When contacted for comment yesterday he said “my petition helped to ask the Province to reconcile all the parties those who lost the chance to become Bishop and the new Bishop Akajuna”
Habasa how ever could not give details and dodged the interview saying he was in some meeting and would call again which he never did.
He is not the first to try to challenge Bishop Akajuna’s appointment or election as the new Bishop of Kigezi diocese over papers but was sorted just like the first group. Just like in the previous case or complaint Canon Johnson Munono sorted Habasa also and the case is now history.
Habasa who was formerly a sports teacher at Kigezi College Butobere and now is a businessman and a dealer in Kampala; he must be back to his business and sports and the Bishop can also be free to Shepherd God’s people without interference.
“So let this be the last group coming to disturb God’s work” a christian at the Diocese said. Earlier a Christian leader from Kigezi had cautioned those trying to fight the church that they would attract for themselves curses.
And those who want to replace Bishop Akajuna can wait and could be appointed or elected when he retires. Gad has been in office for about one year and a half.
