A total of 210 students have been graduated and awarded certificates in various disciplines during the University’s first graduation ceremony in Uganda.
Two students were awarded master’s degrees in Divinity and they are; Nabyonga Elizabeth and Paul Ssemakula.
The majority were awarded bachelor’s degrees in divinity and others awarded certificates and diplomas in Divinity.
The graduation held today at Nsangi Christian Fellowship auditorium was presided over by the University President and Chancellor Prof Jin Kim who advised gradunds to remain humble and to use their academic authority to serve God.
Prof Jin Kim was in company of the University Dean for academics of USA Dr. Mi Kim and Dr. Kayongo Stephen Dean for East Africa and Director for Africa.
Prof Jin Kim said he conceived the University project being guided by God and that it started small and without lecturers but by faith the University established and is expanding.
He announced that they will soon start campuses in Kenya. The University already opened branches in South Sudan.
Prof Jin Kim asked the graduates of California University to demonstrate what they have learnt in class to transform their communities and churches for God.
He also thanked spouses and families that supported the students to study Divinity.
Prof Mi Kim and Pastor Dr. Han Lukito a USA based minister asked graduates to stay connected to God and to cultivated a strong relationship God so that they can be able to be relevant in their communities.
Dr. Kayongo said they started small but now have 16 professors. The University in Uganda started its operations about 5 years ago.
In Uganda alone, the University has over 11 campuses, which Include; Nsangi, Nkumba, Kawanda, Nakawa, Makindye (near Katwe Primary school) and others.
Dr. Kayongo said students only have to pay admission fees thus allowing them to access full scholarship to study from a certificate to a PhD in Divinity. He said some can study by zoom.
