A senior lawyer (Dr. Akampumuza) who is said to be backed by a force of several local people and opinion leaders in the constituency, the district and some outside the district is not new to the politics of the area since he has been participating in campaigning for President Museveni in the last elections.
What started as a simple story and mission sometime back that Dr. Akampumuza James Rutanga is planning to become Member of Parliament for Ndorwa East Constituency in Kabale district has overtime turned into a pregnant dream and pragmatic mission.
Dr. Akampumuza a senior lawyer and lecturer is determined to represent Ndorwa East Constituency in Parliament if elected MP in 2026 national elections.
His recent consultation meetings with the locals have attracted a warm welcome as he exhibited that he wants to work and rescue the constituency from political âneglectâ since the area MP Wilfred Niwagaba differed the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party sometime back and he is now an opposition leaning MP who hardly accesses government resources to serve his people as MP.
Dr. Akampumuza is driven and glued to a political slogan of Ngaba nokora a Rukiga phrase which loosely when translated into english means âspeak as you workâ.
He has subsequently put some projects and contributions on the ground in the constituency that include an ambulance which is set to help sick locals to access health care especially children and expectant mothers.
Dr. Akampumuza recent moves have âwoken upâ the area MP who has also to work and exhibit some political relevance.

Besides his calculated political activity in the constituency, Dr. Akampumuza has a string of social and other relations that connect him to the people of Ndorwa East.
What does he want to do for Ndorwa East Constituency?
âMoving the Constituency from the retardation it has suffered back into the trajectory of development. And this to be achieved through cooperation with government and local leadershipsâ he said in a brief interview.
Some of his contributions;
Dr. Akampumuza recently honoured the financial pledge he made to Kyobugombe Health Centre II earlier this month for connecting Electricity to the health facility. The contribution of UGX 940,000/= Â which was delivered by his Team Gamba Nookora Ebyentunguuka led by Councilor Tanazio Niwagaba. Â The team comprised of Mr. Batuma, Bruce Twijukye, Ronas Atwongyeire, Isaiah Natwijuka, Turyamureba Alex among others.
Mr. Edmund Tumwesigye, the Chairman LCIII who graced the occasion greatly appreciated and thanked Dr. Akampumuza James Rutanga for rising to the occasion to start solving community needs.
The Chairman of the Health Centre together with his Board and management warmly received the contribution and said that it will go a long way in helping them to effectively treat patients.
Sources close to Dr. Akampumuza said that he is a determined and fearless leader, rich , generous, and is ready to work for the people of Ndorwa East and Kabale in general without segregation by tribe or religion.
A senior lawyer (Dr. Akampumuza will not face Niwagaba alone. He will first face Dr. Prutazio in the NRM party primaries before one of them(NRM flag bearer) or both can face Hon. Niwagaba in 2026 final national MP elections.
Dr. Prutazio lost to Hon. Niwagaba in the last elections. Â The two doctors (Dr. Akampumuza and Dr. Prutazio) and have a couple of other candidates who are interested in the same seat and so the constituency will experience some momentous political activity as aspirants and their supporters traverse villages to win support.
But it must be remembered that the incursion of Dr. Akampumuza, a gentle, social, intelligent leader into the elective politics of Ndorwa East Constituency will cause a political pandemonium. Watch this space!
