UNPRINCIPLED POLITICIANS OR CELEBRATED AND CERTIFIED LIARS
Contemporary Uganda has many challenges especially man made ones. Deep critical analysis of the problems depicts interesting scenarios and observations. In politics, especially parliament and political parties there is what one would call political realignment ahead of internal political party elections and certainly by extension the general elections slated 2026 in this country. Recently, we saw a huge group of UPC politicians and leaders in Lango crossing to NRMO as the battle for the control of Oyam North was raging on . More than 900 UPC members are alleged to have switched their allegiance from Jimmy Akena’s UPC to NRM’s Yoweri Museveni in Lango in recent weeks. By the end of the campaigns UPC became victorious beating not only the President and his security apparatus but smashing bank of Uganda infrastructure that was deployed to buy off troublesome opposition leaders in Lango . Surprisingly some of the leaders took the free cash from state functionaries but instructed the masses to vote against the ruling party in the historic Lango polls.
A young girl managed to scoop the Parliamentary seat replacing the slain state Minister of labour and employment in the country. May his soul rest in peace!
Turning to FDC party straight, there are two if not three or more contending forces ahead 2023 in coming delegate’s conference. The first and official narrative is that the current crisis in the blue party is not about the 2021 campaign money but rather about bad intentions by Dr. Kizza Besigye and his cohorts who were of the view that Eng Patrick Oboi Amuriat should not have participated in the 2021 presidential elections. They wanted to sell our soul, our vision, our political home to other wannabe presidents in this country.

They fatally forgot that President Amuriat is now the property of the FDC delegates that voted for him at Namboole since 24-11-2017. Dr. Kizza Besigye personally ordered the FDC presidency not to take part in the 2021 national presidential race. Certainly and correctly, the FDC presidency and the party infrastructure refused to take unclear orders from the Katonga based politicians headed by Dr. Besigye, they preferred to participate for the collective as opposed to individual wishes of party members. This was the exact point of departure between the Najjanankumbi FDC party establishment and the self styled people’s government based at Katonga road in the city centre of Kampala. There was no formal communication or meetings over the matter as its the modus operandi of our good Dr. Kizza Besigye and his aides at Katonga who are now demanding without sound evidence the resignation of both the the elected Party President of FDC and the elected strongman of FDC Rt, Hon Nathan Nandala Mafabi. The Katonga faction falsely claim dirty money was brought to the party ahead of 2021 polls. Their groundless claims don’t make any sense in the public domain because there is no video depicting their allegations, nor bank records linking President Amuriat and Hon. Nandala to state house funds in question. All we have on record now is mere hearsays or rumours that can’t be reliable evidence to warrant their far fetched demand of massive resignations at Najjanankumbi seat of FDC.
There are many questions from the membership of the party and broad public domain to be answered by the FDC disgruntled members of Katonga Road , Sharing hall and most recent of Fairway hotel.
1-Is Dr. Besigye interested in making a comeback as President of FDC in the coming internal elections later this year?
2- If the answer is yes then there is no way the party which is bigger than all of us can disolve the current FDC electoral commission chaired by Dr. Toterebuka Bamwenda. Otherwise how safe are we with the Besigye endorsed commission to man internal elections in our party? Convince us that such a biased commission will be fair to Dan Malcom Matsiko, Patrick Amuriat or Ojara all aspiring candidates in the race for FDC Presidency?
3-How safe is the FDC brand in the hands of NUP leaning leadership at Najjanankumbi because there is serious and credible evidence that the Ssemuju group with Besigye and Lukwago want to sell our party to NUP’s Robert Kyagulanyi and his amateurish politicians?

4- FDC party in its 19 year of existence has ever handled huge sums of money without unwarranted noise. At one time FDC had in its coffers over 20 billion shillings and there was no noise made by members, why is the disgruntled group this time around interested with much appetite to wash the party’s dirty linen in public? could it be because of malice, political intrigue, unprincipled members or sheer thuggery by the Ssemuju / Lukwago group of anarchists?
5-Fairness,good leadership, accountability plus electoral democracy are core values of FDC party. They can only be achieved through health internal competition giving rise to refined leadership in any multiparty scenario globally. Those core principles are the cornerstone of deepened internal party democracy in the FDC. I know as opposed to outright hostility, bad mouthing, back stabbings, Malice, open party bickering and maligning of fellow party menbers. In the Forum for democratic Change political party, political capital emanates from elections not mere empty speeches in city based press conferences and hired media talk shows. For example in 2017 , many of us disagreed with the then party President , former army general Mugisha Muntu’s leadership in the FDC. We openly contested against him and by the end of polls at Namboole he had been denied a second term as the FDC party President. The public want to know why is the Katonga group subverting internal party democracy and opting for thuggery , gansterism and blackmail as methods of achieving change at Najjanankumbi FDC headquarters? Why are they paranoid? why are they scared of nationwide party robust mobilisation likely to cause the much coveted leadership change at Najjanankumbi FDC headquarters come December 2023?
Many more questions are lingering in the public domain and deserve to be answered by the Besigye lead faction in FDC based at Katonga Road.
