Dr Philemon Mateke the Kisoro District NRM boss is the reason why Grace Akifeza has won the Kisoro Woman MP by election. Mateke is a former minister in the NRM government and Obote regime.
He worked for the people of Kisoro then and now they believe in him like how strong Christians believe in gospel truth. And so, the person he backs has to win.
Mateke defied the odds with the support of the majority said Rose Kabagyenyi had been un dully elected NRM flag bearer against Grace Akifeza. Mateke opposed the NRM district committee.
Although the President came to Kisoro this week to campaign for the NRM flag bearer it was known by some of us that Dr. Mateke’s favorite Akifeza would win. And indeed, she won and was declared winner shortly after midnight.
The Kisoro District Returning Officer Daniel Nayebare declared that Akifeza had won with over 50,000 votes beating Kabagyenyi her closest challenger.

Dr Mateke and his supporters have stressed that they can win in all circumstances and that emphasizes that Dr.
Mateke is the King pin of the Politics of Kisoro. He beat some ministers who moved from elsewhere in Kigezi and this was also because he had solid support of the locals and local leaders and the Kisoro national leaders; all MPs They listen and breath with him).
The Kisoro District Returning Officer, Daniel Nayebare, declared Ms Akifeza duly elected at exactly 1.30am.
This shut down the hopes of Kabagyenyi who had been said and published in some sections of the media to be leading as counting happened.
Sarah Mateke factor;

Rose Kabagyenyi may have to close her elective political career and concentrate on other things. Kabagyenyi is lucky she is a presidential advisor on Agriculture.
It is said that when she was elected MP against Sarah Mateke some time back, she became proud and did not remember the locals who voted her and that largely accounts for her continuous loss in politics.
