Equity Bank Uganda has embraced Conservation Forestry work and programs and joined hands to work with Million Trees International Organization, in Uganda.
Earlier today 20th September 2023, the Uganda’s Equity Bank branch director Ms Mwerinde Elizabeth, handed over a dummy cheque of 5,000,000/= shillings as their initial support towards conservation forestry.
“I do follow your good work Dr Jibril! We meet in 2022, you have been doing the best towards environmental protection in Uganda. As Equity Bank Uganda, we shall work with you in all projects across the country,” said Ms Mwerinde Elizabeth, Executive Director Equity Bank Uganda.
In the meeting hosted at Church House, Kampala where Dr Jibril Semakura Owomugisha, founding Director Million Trees International Organization lead his delegation for a one on one interaction with Equity Bank Uganda Secretariat, the two partners agreed to work together to in the implementation of Kasese Conservation Forestry Programs, as a start project.
“It’s very necessary for all of us to jointly work together to save mother earth! Environmental protection is everyone’s role! With conservation forestry, all trees planted are protected to make a forest,” said Dr Jibril.
“We’re starting to work together in restoring forests. We’re proud to work with you because of what you have greatly done in Uganda. Equity Bank Uganda embraces renewable energy to divert people’s mindset from firewood or charcoal use. I pledge my full support,” added Ms Virginia Ssemakula, Director Climate Energy and Environment Equity Bank Uganda.
Kasese Conservation Forestry is one of the ongoing projects to be conducted by Million Trees International Organization working closely with local partners of Kasese Tourism Investors Forum, Kasese Municipality Council, and the entire Rwenzururu region. Kasese Conservation Forestry will start with 40 acres tree growing sessions in Mwaro Cell, Rukoki Ward in Nyamwamba Division, a land offered by Kasese Municipality Council for greening.
It’s again noted that Million Trees International Organization, won the “Environment Sustainability Award 2023” by Government of Uganda through National Environment Management Authority, NEMA on 5th June 2023 that was handed over by Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah, Prime Minister of Uganda.
