Western Uganda is mourning the death of one of its most beloved radio personalities, Claire Chopa, who passed away at the weekend from Devine Mercy Hospital in Rwebikoona, Mbarara.
Born Ekiyaasiimire Claire, the celebrated presenter is reported to have succumbed to complications related to high blood pressure (hypertension).
Claire’s vibrant career spanned several leading radio stations, including Radio West, Endigyito FM, and Greater African Radio. She was widely known for her charismatic voice and connection with listeners across the region.
In addition to her work in radio, Claire was a teacher by profession and was admired for her dedication both on air and in the classroom. She was married to fellow radio presenter Patrick Kabagambe, who co-hosts the popular morning show Owakutangaheeru on Radio West.

Burial arrangements and further details will be communicated by the family in due course.
