Mawokota South Member of Parliament Yusuf Nsibambi continues to sink into problems after FDC party has summoned him for disciplinary action which could result into expulsion from the party.
According to Hon Jack Sabiti the FDC (National) party chairman, Hon Yusuf has exhibited bad behavior and has been summed to face a disciplinary committee of the party is which on going.
“We have summoned Hon Nsibambi to the party disciplinary committee together with another 11 FDC party leaders over misconduct.
We as the committee which I head will make a report after meeting them and forward it to the NEC of FDC for the final disciplinary action. The action can even be expulsion from the party” he stated.
Speaking today to the eastafricanwatch.net reporter in Kampala, Sabiti said Nsimbabi’s utterance and moving swiftly to meet President Yoweri Museveni without authority and clearance from the party is serious indiscipline.
He said Hon Nsibambi’s utterances and the behavior of other 11 FDC leaders has caused trouble to the party and that is why they face the party disciplinary action.
Hon Sabiiti also stressed that the party has rejected the results of the recently concluded election saying they were characterized by rigging and were affected by misused of the Police and the army.
“If Nsimbabi said NRM won elections, how many votes did he get in his constituency?” He asked.
Some time back a photo of President Museveni with opposition figures from FDC, NUP and others shook the internet, attracting backlash and sparking widespread discussion among Ugandans.
In the photo were Mawokota South outgoing MP Yusuf Nsibambi, who caught much of the public’s attention, NUP’s Latiff Ssebaggala, Moses Kabuusu of PFF, Roland Ndyomugyenyi of Rukiga County (Independent), and others at State House in Entebbe.
The main question for many was what they had gone there to do, with many speculating that they had gone to fetch money following their failure in the recently concluded general elections.
Following this, Nsibambi, while appearing on Sanyuka TV, cleared the air, explaining that the meeting was arranged by religious leaders under the Inter-Religious Council on January 7 before the election.
He said the aim of the meeting was to ensure peaceful elections and to plead with the President to free political prisoners among others.
Nsibambi revealed that the genesis of the meeting came from the tension he saw in the country before the elections, which made him contact five key people in the country, including IGP Abbas Byakagaba and Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama, who sat to pave the way for communication between all sides to ensure a peaceful election.
He explained that at first the President refused to meet them, saying he had the capacity to control the tension, but later gave them an ear and accepted the meeting on condition that the Inter-Religious Council must be involved.
Nsibambi said they convinced the President to free political prisoners, including big names in NUP who are behind bars, which he said Museveni accepted.
Nsibambi is the deputy party Chairman for Buganda region and also a party lawyer but some circles in the party said he has not perfomerd.
