Government has handed over three more body remains to the families of the victims of the Mpondwe Lhubiriha Secondary School terror attack by remnants of ADF last month.
Two of these bodies were for boys who were burnt beyond recognition in their dormitory and one girl who was picked by UPDF in DRC having been killed after being abducted.
This now leaves the number of unidentified bodies to four boys whose unclaimed remains are in Muhoti barracks,Fort Portal pending further tests.
At exactly 11 O’clock, the police truck carrying the caskets in which the three remains laid arrived at Bwera General Hospital mortuary where family members came to pick them for burials.
The state minister for ICT and National Guidance Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga, who gave out 5 million shillings to 16 families as government’s condolence said more DNA samples will be taken until relatives of the four are found.
The state minister for Sports Hon Peter Ogwang also delivered the President’s condolence message to the 16 families,including those of the recent 11 bodies that were handed to parents, two community members and the three students who were handed over to their family members today afternoon at Bwera hospital in Kasese district.
Minister Ogwang however appealed to the families that received 5million shillings each not to fight and get divided over the money.
Meanwhile family members who received remains of their loved ones thanked the government for the efforts it has put in to ensure that their children are rescued and recognized through DNA tests, adding that they had lost hope.
