
Busoga is in full gear preparing to celebrate the 12th Kyabazinga coronations as the youths are being mobilized to love their culture and fight poverty in Busoga region.
The region is happy with the reign of the Kyabazinga of Busoga Isabirye William Gabula Nadiope IV who officially was entrusted with the crown and reign to steer and rule over Busoga as a kingdom about 12 years ago.
Speaking to the youth committee headed by Mr. Salim Hussein Magumba as appointed by the Kyabazinga, Hajji Daktul Bongo former LCV Mayuge district yesterday emphasized the importance of the coronation celebrations of the Kyabazinga.
He said it should be a platform to foster mobilization of the region to fight poverty and to cement their cultural values which are bedrock to social economic transformation and development.

Hajji Bongo also appealed to the youth to recognize and also pay homage to the fallen Omukama of Tooro Kingdom King Oyo Nyimba whose death is a big blow to the youth generation among others.
He said running this year’s coronation under the Theme; ‘Strengthening our culture and norms for development’, called on the youth and the general population in Busoga to work with government’s social economic programs, projects and initiatives to fight poverty and backwardness.
In the bid to intensify mobilisation, the youth team went ahead today to meet different groups of people from Bunha chiefdom the hosts of this year’s event doubling as the in-laws of the Kyabazinga at a home where he got his beautiful wife and mother of Busoga.

Nalongo EstherMorine a youth representative at the Busoga Kingdom youth council representing Bukooli Chiefdom, and a field officer with the Kyabazinga initiative asked the youth to take their culture seriously.
“Regardless of your honors and dignities, a girl child is expected to conduct themselves accordingly in Busoga ahead of elder” she said.
She said the Kyabazinga initiative targets to eliminate child labour, teenage pregnancy, early marriages, school dropout, gender-based violence in Busoga communities emphasizing the husband as the pillar which supports both the occurrence and the end to all these emphasizing the roots as extreme poverty in the homes due to the decisions a man makes.

Nalongo said they are emphasizing training and working with men to tackle several social challenges that the communities in Busaga face because men are central to them by their natural position in a family as heads of families as per the African custom and culture.
“Men have resources and power, we have to work with them to solve social challenges, thank God they are positive and we are hopeful life and perspectives will change in Busoga” she added.

Mr. Magumba Salim Hussein is working under Hajji Osman Muvawala to ensure a successful coronation celebration later this month.
