The Kabale district NRM office yesterday kicked off campaigns for the NRM candidates vying for various Member of Parliament seats.
“We have today the 1/7/2025 flagged off our NRM MP candidates to contest for the NRM Flag bearer in the district.
Among those are the Ndorwa East County Constituency candidates that included Dr. Akampumuza James Rutanga.” A source said.
The commissioning of campaigns was done during a meeting held at the office of the RDC Kabale chaired by the Deputy RDC Mr. Aine.
The Kabale District NRM Returning Officer Barbra Ainebyona, other Electorate staff including Edison Political, SP Okello DPC Kabale and other security officers attended.
The candidates attending included Dr. Akampumuza James Rutanga for Ndorwa East, Kassim, Joseph Mutebile, Aja Andrew Baryayanga, Rwasabutare, for Municipality and women Contestants and many others.
“It was agreed that there will be no joint campaigns because the Kabale office has not been facilitated with logistics to conduct the same. The meeting agreed that security will be tight but there shouldn’t be deliberate antagonism created by Candidates and their agents”. The source said.
Unlike in Rukiga district where campaigns started early in Kabale it started yesterday.
The hottest campaigns will be in Kabale Municipality where candidates are fighting for the NRM flag and later they can face the incumbent MP Dr. T Kamara the opposition candidate.
The winner in NRM party primaries in Ndorwa East County Constituency will face the stubborn opposition MP Wilfred Nuwagaba who has enjoyed several terms as MP and does not want to retire. The NRM leaders accuse him of incompetence as an MP.
