The Senior Linesman with the former Uganda Electricity Board and a Non-Commissioned Officer in Uganda Army, Eng. Charles Buyera was on Saturday laid to rest at his Ancestral home-Mumusomi village Munamba, Namisindwa district.
The late Buyera died at Mbale Referral Hospital on January 17th 2025 and he was 93 years old. Eng. Buyera succumbed to complications associated with liver and Prostate.
Hundreds of people that included locals, politicians and religious leaders turned up to give a benefiting farewell to the Late Eng.Buyera.
The Member of Parliament for Kiminini Constituency Trans -Nzoi County in Kenya,Hon Maurice Kakai Bisau,hailed the late Buyera as hard working, disciplined and dedicated servant to his family and the country at large.
Hon Musila the MP for Bubulo East in Uganda described the late Buyera as an environmentalist and educationalist.”He loved education and that’s why you see his children are succeeding in life”.
Hon.Musila asked the people of Namisindwa district to emulate the late Buyera by planting at least five trees every month especially during the rainy season.
The late Eng.Buyera was born in 1932 into the Bamasaba Community (Bagisu) in a humble village called Bumusomi -Munamba Namisindwa district in eastern Uganda.
He started his Education at a local school called Bupoto Primary School currently near Namisindwa district Headquarters.After completing his junior Education,he joined Masaba Secondary School in Silonkho district.
The late Buyera then proceeded to, Kyambogo Polytechnic College today Kyambogo University, where he successfully graduated with a Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
In 1958 he was employed by then Uganda Electricity Board,the Uganda national supplier of Electricity.While working with UEB ,Buyera was posted to different parts of the Country such Kilembe Copper mines, Kabale Kigezi district then, Masaka,Mityana, Mbarara,-Lugazi and Kampala.
In 1977 ,the late Eng.Charles joined the Uganda Army and was deployed as a pay Master at the Third Division Headquarters at Bugema in Mbale.
In 1978, he was arrested and detained for reasons we do not understand but Luckily enough he was released and returned him
In 1980, Buyera retired from Public service to concentrate on raising his children and farming at his Ancestral home- in Mumusomi Munamba.
In his lifetime, Buyera married thrice that saw him producing 12 Children from the three marriages.
His first wife was of a Rwandan origin and between them they produced nine children The wife gave him four children while the third had three children with the late Eng. Buyera.
Eng. Buyera who was laid to rest at his Ancestral home- in Mumusomi Munamba Namisindwa district left behind 12 children,30 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
