At least ten people, including a pedestrian, were injured after a bus carrying passengers from Kampala to Kabale District lost control and overturned at Rwabahaze Cell in Muhanga Town Council, Rukiga District, police reported on Sunday.
The accident occurred around 6:58 a.m. along the Ntungamo-Kabale Highway in Southern Uganda, according to Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Elly Maate. Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded
“The bus, a Scania with registration number UBM 707X and owned by Gateway Bus Company, was travelling from Kampala to Kabale,” Maate stated during a press briefing.
According to police, the crash happened when the driver lost control at Rwabahaze and struck a woman who was walking toward Rwahi in Ntungamo District. The bus then veered into a roadside water trench and overturned, injuring both the pedestrian and several passengers.
Following the incident, Rukiga’s District Traffic Officer and a team of investigators visited the crash site, took witness statements, documented the scene with a sketch, and had the bus towed to Rukiga Police Station for further inspection.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.

- Nowembabazi Brandon, 11, from Kabale District
- Busingye Patience, 49, from Kampala
- Kicoco Benson, 55, from Kampala
- Asiimwe Pauson, 40, from Rubanda District
- Basisha Richard, 34, a national of Rwanda
- Ninsima Tracey, 21, from Muhanga Town Council
