A total cash of 62.400.000= ,, pledges of 2.800.000= and 510 bags of cement was earlier today collected at St Peter’s cathedral Rugarama in Kabale district at the launch of fundraising for the construction of the cathedral Tower which was led by the Lay Canons .
Hon Catherine Ndamira Atwakiire , the Kabale district woman MP, who is also the Kigezi parliamentary chief whip joined the Christians and hailed the Bishop Gad Akajuna for serving God wholeheartedly and for inviting her for the fundraising and called for unity among Christians not basing on religion or clan.
Hon Catherine urged Christians to love each other, that will lead to the development of the church and our communities , and contributed 100 bags of cement towards the construction of the cathedral Tower.,and pledged to always cooperate with the Bishop and Christians in supporting the development of the church.
At the same function, Hon Wilfred Niwagaba Rugamba’amazina, the Ndorwa East Constituency sharp legislator, who is also the Shadow Attorney General in the Parliament of Uganda ,hailed the Bishop for the running projects like water, education among others in the diocese covering the whole Kabale district district.
Hon Niwagaba contributed 5.000.000= cash towards the construction of the cathedral Tower,and pledged to always cooperate with the Bishop in every development of the church.
Hon Prossy Akampulira Begumisa Mbabazi, the Rubanda district woman MP, who is also the commissioner of Parliament of Uganda, represented by her husband Mr Mbabazi Apollo commended the Canons for thinking about the tower and contributed 5.000.000= cash towards the construction of the cathedral Tower.
Hon Rugambamazi Niwagaba at Rugarama
Hon Nicholas Kamara, the Kabale Municipality MP hailed the Bishop for allowing the health team in the diocese to accept the offer of the Scan which is already in Rugarama hospital.
Hon Kamara thanked and welcomed the new reverend Obed with 500.000= and also contributed 2.000.000= cash towards the construction of the tower.
Hon Ndyomugyenyi Rowland Bish also thanked the Bishop for what he is doing for the church, and also contributed 5.000.000= cash.
Bishop Gad in his homily called upon Christians to use their talents,as we have different talents, we use our talents to help each other .
The Bishop also urged Christians to always give thanks to the Lord for his love and protection on them, thank him for everything they have, whether small or big.,and above all, thank him for every breath.
Bishop Gad commended the Honorable MPs for accepting his invitation,and for their contributions ,and pledged maximum support to them in return for what they are doing for the church.
The event was Presided over by the state minister for trade and Ndorwa West MP David Bahati who contributed a lot to the fundraising. Hon Bahati is also Kabale district NRM party boss and called upon the people of Kigezi to embrace government programs to fight poverty and promote education of their children especially technical skills.
Some of the Diocese of Kigezi Lay Canons that were leading the Thanksgiving, were Can. Baryantuma Johnson Munono, the Kabale University Secretary.,Can. Enock Kazooba, Mayor Ryakarimira Town Council, and Rose Gardens.,Can. Eng. Ivan Mbabazi Batuma, the Director V.O.K FM and Bunyonyi Overland Resort,and Rushaga Islands.
Can. Barintuma, the head of laity of Kigezi Diocese  commended the Honorable MPs and other Christians for coming to support them in launching of the fundraising for the construction of the cathedral Tower.
