By Hon Mubiru James
I write to the Church to remind us that everything we do must be reflected in the Bible, not in emotions.
Much as Gashumba attacked the Church through heresy, preaching that miracles don’t exist, this should not be news to us. Even the Pharisees did not believe in the miracles of Jesus, to the extent that they crucified Him. Surprisingly, Jesus never cursed them, He always blessed and loved them.
As born-again Christians, we should not see those who mock us as enemies. We should always pray for them and love them, because it is not really them, but the devil using them.
We are in a battle, and our battle has never been physical but spiritual.
The Bible makes it very clear in 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 and Ephesians 6:12:
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”
Attacking Gashumba physically is a sign that we are diverting from the Bible.
Let us pray for him, love him, and intercede for him that the Lord may transform him and he may receive salvation. We have no idea how impactful he can be to the Body of Christ when he is saved.
We all know Apostle Paul who persecuted the Church and killed many Christians. But the day the Lord visited him, his damage to the Church became history. He preached the Gospel and many were converted. In fact, most of the books in the New Testament were written by him as he was inspired by the Spirit of God.
The disciples of Jesus did not want to associate with Paul because of his past, but the Lord saw the best in him. That is why He did not kill him before his assignment was done.
Paul knew the disciples hated him and that is why he wrote to them in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 about love.
As the Body of Christ, we should never live to appease people or to convince people. No. Our work is to preach Christ and to pray for non-believers, that the Lord may have mercy on them to also receive salvation.
On Miracles:
Our God is a miracle-working God and He works for those who have faith in Him. We cannot be put under temptation to go and pray for the sick, the lame, the dead etc. just to prove a point. That is out of order and God will never manifest Himself in such drama.
In the days of Jesus, many hospitals full of sick people existed and many died in His time, but we only see those who believed and had faith in Him receiving miracles.
A clear example is when Jesus was fasting for 40 days and nights. The devil tempted Him to change stones into bread, to jump so that angels would carry Him etc. Jesus had power to do it, but because the devil was tempting Him, Jesus refused to comply and responded with Scripture.
I guarantee non-believers: Believe in Jesus and have faith in Him. Reach out to a Church that is solid in Christ and you will receive your miracle.
My Message to Gashumba:
Do not allow the devil to use you for his agenda of discouraging the wonder-working moves of God.
You are not the first person to attack the Church. In the 1980s, Idi Amin attacked Makerere Full Gospel Church, and I tell you that marked the end of his leadership.
I warn you, many have tried to stop the work of God, but they found themselves fighting against the hand of God.
As Scripture says:
“Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” – Acts 5:38-39
These are spiritual matters, very different from the bling-bling politics you always front in the media. Matters of God are not a joke. You can either be blessed or cursed, and I call upon you to stop immediately.
