NRM responds to accusations of the loss of catholic MPs and leaders in elections in Greater Kabale

The Director Information and Publicity at the NRM party secretariat Hon Emmanuel Lumala Dombo has said that the NRM party will investigate allegations that catholic MPs and leaders of Greater Kabale lost the recent elections on grounds that the government(miltary) and the NRM party targeted and fought them.

“ I am just hearing that from you, and as the NRM party we shall investigate those allegation and report our findings to the NRM top organs and leaders for immediate remedial action” he said.

Speaking to the Editor of the eastafricanwatch.net in a mobile phone interview this morning Dombo  was also quick to state that the NRM party does not support divisive politics on any grounds.

He said” we stand for principles such as, democracy, patriotism, nationalism, and social economic transformation”.

The great eastafricanwatch.net online newspaper  yesterday broke the story of the complaints of the catholic faithfuls of greater Kabale under the headline,  ‘Did NRM deliberately punish the Catholic church in Kabale And why?’.

The story which has since gone viral in several social media platforms has attracted several comments some in support of the catholic faithfuls others bashing the catholic church accusing it of promoting religious sectarianism.

Hon Moses Kamuntu of Rubanda west a catholic lost to Hon Bruce Kabaasa Balaba(Anglican). Hon Henry Musasizi of Rubanda East retained his seat(catholic) other incubents lost. Others who lost are hon Akamurira Prossy to a catholic one Kikafunda Everlyne.

Hon. Henry Musasizi who beat his arch rival Keneth Jogo may face the wrath of his opponents in the next elections should they identify a stronger candidate as his opponent. Jogo who has been jostling Musasizi for sometime now is said to have run out of steam to defeat Musasisi at anytime in future.

In Kabale the LC5 race Nshangaabashaija Nelson(Baba Baba-Catholic) lost the  seat to the NRM’s Denis Nzeirwe.

In Rukiga district, Dr. Syvia Arinaitwe won taking Hon Kamusime Muhwezi’s seat (all anglicans) and Kiconco Katabazi replaces Bish Ndyomugyenyi(all anglicans).

Dr. Kamara Thadeus who was the Kabale Municipality MP( catholic and opposition) lost to the NRM’s new cormer Andrew Baryayanga.
