UPDF Headquarters
Kampala, Uganda,
Dear General Muhoozi,
Read : Isaiah 10:1-4
With utmost urgency and concern, I am compelled to address the escalating situation surrounding Dr. Kiiza Besigye’s detention, and express my deepest apprehensions regarding his welfare and the implications of his continued imprisonment.
Your public statements and tweets have made it clear that you view Dr. Besigye as a threat, but I urge you to reconsider your stance. Your words have not only revealed a deep-seated animosity towards Dr. Besigye but have also exposed the regime’s desperation to silence him.
I want to remind you that the people of Kasese, whom I represent, hold Dr. Besigye in high esteem. We consider him our savior, and his contributions to our social and economic well-being are immeasurable.
His health has weakened significantly, and we fear that any sudden shock or trauma could be fatal. While it may seem that Ugandans are quiet on this matter, I caution you not to take our silence for granted.
Should Dr. Besigye succumb to his detention and lose his life, the consequences will be severe and far-reaching. Ugandans will not take kindly to the state-sanctioned murder of a national hero.
The repercussions will be dire, and your regime will face unprecedented backlash. I implore you to reconsider your stance and release Dr. Besigye unconditionally.
His detention only serves to undermine the legitimacy of your regime and fuels the growing discontent among Ugandans. We will not stand idly by while our hero is persecuted.
Sincerely,
Kabuku Ronald
FDC Chairperson, Kasese
