Operation Wealth Creation has mobilized, organized and coordinated small holder farmers and agro-processors across the country under the Community Agro-processing Alliance) and Wealth Creation Uganda Millers Association (WECRUMA) to supply food items in required quantities and specifications to the National Taskforce for COVID19 response.
This is line with OWC strategic mandate to provide market linkages to the most subsistence /small holder farmers who are usually vulnerable to the exploitative ways of middlemen and largescale grain processors/dealers.
“We have also supported these groups in effort to enhance community ownership of any government response to any emergency response such as the Corona Virus (COVID: 19) Pandemic in Uganda” said Maj. Tabaro Kiconco

He added “we are therefore set and pleased to put to use the wide network of farmers we have built since our inception to ensure that all Ugandans have physical, social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life. Maj. Tabaro is the spokesperson of OWC.
He said in a statement that OWC and the rest of the government under the wide guidance and leadership of President Yoweri Museveni strategically realized and planned early enough that the battle against COVID:19 was and is both medical and nutritional.
OWC has coordinated different multi stakeholder efforts and will be introducing additional measures to enhance food security and nutrition for individuals and households.
“Very soon, we will announce and launch these measures and we invite the public to embrace those measures as they are intended to ensure that Uganda is food and nutrition secure even long after the COVID;19 is gone” Maj. Tabaro added.
Gen. Salim Saleh OWC boss has made strategic plans to ensure organized and coordinated small holder farmers and ago-processors across the country.
The actors or various food stakeholders have been organized in associations to enhance both food production and Agro- processing. This partly makes Uganda an admired food basket for the region.
