The Chairperson Gender Affairs, Buhweju Community Transformation Initiatives (BCTI) Oyes Annet Byamukama has helped the locals of Rubengye Sub-county where she crashed a stone that was a problem in one of the sports/football pitches.
Oyes has innovatively used fire to break the stones and remove this risk to life of footballers who use the same pitch.
“During the previous games at Parish level, she got a complaint about the stones in one of the pitches in Rubengye Sub-county. This stone led to loss of life sometime back and residents have always found it a big risk.
We are happy that she has innovatively used fire to break the stones and remove this risk to life of footballers who use the same pitch” a local official said.
Why the BCTI games and their history Â
The game’s first of their kind are helping youths to identify their talents.
BCTI league games which started around early May 2023 have excited the locals especially the youths who have not only been usefully kept busy but their sports potential is being natured.
The games with a great vibe also make the participants healthy and is a great source of entertainment for the locals in Buhweju who attend and watch games live.
“Parishes/Wards in each Sub-county/Town Council: Town Council are playing against each to get their champions. The games are being used to test and produce the best talents” a sports official said.
“This particular league is special because it gave chance to so many youths who were not able to play football because previous leagues have considered Sub-county or Town Council games which denies so many youths chance to play. This time every Parish or Ward has a team and are participating” the official added.
There are 68 Parishes and wards in Buhweju district. This means 68 teams of 20 players. The games are being highly attended with each game attracting at least over 500 people.
“I would like to take this chance to thank each one of us for the effort, the zeal and resilience and the great work exhibited over our busy weekend.
On the same note, I would like to thank the Chairperson Gender Affairs, Buhweju Community Transformation Initiatives (BCTI) Limited for bearing the dream. I would also like to thank our Chairman BCTI for being the force behind this dream.
He added “So far, the feedback from all sub counties is positive. I therefore commend everyone to standing tall in all our assigned areas and making it a success.
The sport league officials urged the youths and locals to stay focused on our dream and to be productive in school and work in their families and communities.
Zlatan the BCTI league President said “On behalf of the Chairperson, Gender Affairs, BCTI Let us score the goals of development in BUHWEJU DISTRICT”
Some local youths told the eastafricanwatch.net that they are excited with the BCTI fraternity sports agenda and look forward to participate in other sports programs to come.
