The Ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has used his third rally in Kigezi Sub region to highlight his government’s achievements in extending electricity and safe water, while urging Ugandan’s to prioritise transformative sectors for wealth creation.
Addressing supporters at Rushebeya Play ground in in Rwamucucu Sub County, Rukiga District on Tuesday, President Museveni recalled that when the NRM took over government, electricity supply in the region was minimal, with power having stopped in Kasese and Kabale relying on a small dam.
He said government has since extended electricity to Ntungamo, Kabale, Kisoro and now Rwamucucu, in fulfilment of the pledge to electrify all districts.
He added that the next phase is to ensure power reaches every Gombolola (sub-county) to further drive socio-economic development.

He assured residents that government will work to close the remaining gap so that all communities benefit.
The NRM flag bearer also stressed the need to match infrastructure development with human capital development.
He explained that Uganda requires more science teachers, not because arts teachers are less important, but because the country must prioritise areas of greatest need.
In the same way, he urged citizens to focus on wealth creation activities that transform livelihoods, including commercial agriculture, industries, services and ICT, saying the guiding principle is to prioritise what builds a modern and prosperous future.
