Kasami Rogers Mike is a Ugandan Presidential hopeful in the next general elections (2026); he talked to the Managing Director of Eastafricanwatch.net in a Q&A interview. Below is the full interview.
Are there any good things or any achievements made by President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM government?
Yes, he has worked on security but our people suffer from social insecurity caused by poverty. The rich who are very few are dam rich and many others in millions are languishing in poverty; a terrible situation of income inequality. We need to change this trajectory and put money in the hands of many Ugandans. But besides that President Museveni is a good man and good hearted but surrounded by some wrong people some are actually rotten.
What is the problem of Uganda or the problem in Uganda?
We have some poor leaderships, the NRM government started well but were later derailed and things are not good especially corruption.
So, what should Ugandans do?
Ugandans should support me because I am fresh and available to serve them. We need bing changes especially to have them in 2026 elections. I have availed myself to work for them as President if they elect me. I plan to contest as an Independent candidate. We are ready to change Uganda,
What do you do and what is your track record?
I am a farmer, businessman and former URA staff. I have clean record and I am ready to serve Ugandans as the next President who will work for all. I plan to especially work for the youths who are energetic and able but jobless. And people of Toro region have been left behind we have not share d on the national cake, the Batooro and other people are ready to support my Presidential bid in 2026 elections. For Tooro I will be the first presidential candidate.
How do you plan to create jobs and revamp Uganda’s economy?
We need to seriously focus on skilling the youths with vocational skills; we need to follow up the skills with some good capital to the youths so that they have funds to start cottage industries. The youths need guidance and training on how to run the cottage industries. When the youths are empowered like that they will be bosses and self-employed. Government should have so many free vocational training centres to be used as a training ground for the youths both educated and non-educated.
On the economy; let’s put enough funds to the agricultural sector in Uganda, employ competent managers in the ministry and also establish and pay well the agricultural extension workers who should be stationed at the parish country wide. These would ensure high quality and quantity agricultural products that can force their way in the national, regional and global markets. Ugandan agricultural products such as milk, beans, coffee, tea, maize, sorghum, millet and etc are organic and very competitive on most markets and if we invade those markets our economy can never stay the same. Uganda can actually be a food basket for the most of east African countries if we plan and work well.
Let also turn former UCDA into a fertility and pest side control authority, some Asian countries have the some authority it can be used to ensure were have the right fertilizers and pesticides on the market and they can enhance high quality and quantity products say coffee since have a good planted acreage sofa.
The government also needs to work on most trading protocols so that our products can access all important markets.
We also need to revamp our tourism management and inject more funds and market Ugandan better, we need good managers in UTB and in the ministry of trade and tourism to be able to do this. Some of our officials are sleeping and not working they need to be sacked.
We need to cut the cost of administration; reduced the size of Parliament by half, and reduce the number of ministers to about 30, and also remove RDC’s office;(scrap them off) they seem redundant and are wasting tax payers money. These funds spent on these officials can go to health, education, roads, power and other infrastructures to enable services and trade to happen in Uganda.
What about corruption?
We shall do what is possible to fight corruption; we shall jail them and recover our money from all corrupt officials and politicians.
Does President Museveni fear you?
Yes, he does he knows I can work and with the massive youth support we shall be a force to reckon in the Elections. Let our people focus on the desired future. For God and my country.
