Although Davis Kamukama defeated and humbled the Defense Minister, Adolf Mwesige Kasaija his win is being stained that he has not academic qualifications to be Member of Parliament.
While responding to a petition sent to the NRM secretariat over his academic qualifications, Kamukama clarified that he has adequate qualifications and that that will not deny his people of Bunyangabu county their victory.
“My victory was that of a servant over a lord, people selected me because I am a servant and they replaced me with a lord” he stated while addressing the press yesterday in Kampala.
According to the NRM primary results issued by Bunyangabu District NRM Registry Kamukama polled 22,445 to defeat the incumbent who polled 18,067 votes.
Vincent Womujuni came third with 1,993 votes while Robert Nyakahuma trailed the group with 1,881 votes.
Mujuni has petitioned the NRM secretariat over Kamukama’s papers (academic qualifications) but which he Kamukama has sustained that he is actually over qualified.
“I appeal to Akiki(President Yoweri Museveni to prevail on the secretariat so that they do not seat on my win over academic qualifications which I poses” Kamukama said.
During the Press conference he was accompanied by his supporters and OBs of Rwampara Firm school.
Kamukama a Kikubo, Kampala based businessman is also the proprietor of Ngabo FM. He is said to be social compared to Minister Adolf.
It is said Adolf has not been attending local functions such as weddings and burials which are crucial in winning local support.
Mwesige is said to have lost in the elections because of poor coordination on the ground for not paying attention to the needs of the people in Bunyangabu district.
The minister Mwesige has represented Bunyangabu in Parliament since 1996.
He lost to a new comer Kamukama who has called on the losers to join him so that they can focus on developing the constituency as he waits clearance from the NRM secretariat.
