Who are you?
I am Francis Byamukama. i have expressed interest to contest as MP for Rukiga district. i last week picked my nomination forms from the NRM headquarters -Kyadondo in Kampala. I am planing to unseat Hon Bish Ndyomugyenyi the current Rukiga MP.
Can you work as Hon Jack Sabiiti of FDC party?
No, I cannot work like Hon Jack Sabiiti because he was opposition MP and he did not harvest much from government he would use his money to impress and work for wanainchi hence government programs declined. For example, we have schools that we built in 1930s up to now they have never been rehabilitated plus health centers which are in a sorry state.
How about the late Manzi Tumubwaine and what would you do?
I would rather work like the late Hon Manzi though he was basing on his savings from the government but his planning was bottom and top approach which was better. Mine would be working with close consultation with the locals which is bottom up approach and, in my planning, I will concentrate on community empowerment and make sure all government programs are monitored, evaluated and sustained.
How about President Museveni?
I like my model HE Mzee T Museveni Yoweri because he is visionary and never threatened, he is self-directed can’t be moved by wind he takes time to analyze issues together with mama Janet. Â A good leader should stand on his words and be dynamic as HE Museveni.
Do you salute Hon Sabiiti and the late HonManzi for their work?
There is a lot as we move forward I cannot say that Hon Jack Sabiiti and the late Hon Manzi did nothing, they did a lot but that was their time however I will try my best to work with the current government and address all the possible challenges that Rukiga District faces, like lack of hospital, lobby for state of art ambulances, medical equipment, teachers houses and their salaries, more classroom construction, extending power(electricity) and water coverage among others things.
Are you NRM leader?
Yes, I am NRM leader and supporter plus and plus.
Has NRM party and government made some mistakes?
Yes, the NRM government has made some mistakes but we can correct them adn move on.
How do you want to work?
I want to be organized and involve everyone, so that we can make Rukiga shine again or shine.
What do you want do for the people of Rukiga district as their MP?
I Will make the glory of NRM party come back to Rukiga during my term of office. This will mean improved education health care and infrastructure development. We (me and the NRM government- President Museveni and Mama Janet) will work hard to fight poverty. This is not to promise heaven on earth but we are ready to work for our people and with a strong will, Yes, we can.
We can make Rukiga district be like heaven in terms of development and social economic life where, we can leave together harmoniously and develop as well. The NRM government has programs, projects and initiatives and the environment four our people to work to fight poverty and backwardness.
