The Rukiga Member of Parliament aspirant Counsel Patrick Kiconci Katabazi has asked voters to shift focus from material concerns (“Kashera”) to more significant goals.

(“Kashera”) when translated means local brew (alcoholic drinks) and that the locals have to turn their eyes away from “Kashera to development issues.

Katabazi made the remarks recently while consulting Murambi Village locals in Rukiga district.

Counsel Katabaazi met the locals on the invitation of Chairman Mr. Ngabirano Valence. Murambi is in Nyarurambi, Rwamucucu sub county.

Katabazi has been relentless for about two years now in visiting and supporting local projects in Rukiga and has actually become a household name.

He also engages in intellectual debates and discussions in various foras that include radios and TV station talk shows that endear him to especially the youths in Kigezi region and beyond.

“Counsel Katabaazi has been consistent in meeting and contributing to community projects. We hope the people will see the light and vote him” one Magezi said.

Katabazi also stressed the importance of teamwork, hard work, and mutual support, inspiring the community to work together towards a brighter future.

He is contesting for MP come 2026 national elections and has kept himself on the ground and seriously relevant.

Katabazi will be in this race with the incumbent Bish Ndyomugyenyi and Alex Magezi Kanuga among others.

He has stamped his political foot on the ground and has made several contributions to churches, mosques, villages donating freshen cows and other items. and who knows what? he may continue to make himself an issue in Rukiga and maybe a bigger threat to the other aspirants.

Bish and Kanuga maybe saving money to inject it into polls on the last minute(2026) but voters should consider Politicians who continuously check on them with developmental projects. Let’s watch this space!
