As I departed the bus park on Namirembe road in Kampala, a message came to me as a voice from God. I had asked God to give me a message to share with the church and the Christian community in Rwanda.

I last visited Rwanda as a young preacher with Emmanuel Mutebezi in mid-90’s (19). We had been staying together in Old Kampala. We then preached the gospel and by God’s grace caused spiritual revival as God accompanied his word with miracles, sings and wonders in Kabarondo, Kayonza etc areas in Rwanda.

On Thursday evening while on a Jaguar Bus  to Rwanda, the lord said “: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”. ( 2 chronicles chapter 7 verse 17).

Key Elements of the Verse;

  • The Condition: God asks His people to do four things:
    • Humble themselves (drop pride and self-reliance).
    • Seek His face.
    • Turn from wicked ways (repentance).
  • The Promise: God responds with three actions:
    • Hear from heaven.
    • Forgive their sin.
    • Heal their land.
    • Pastor Magara Darious

Context and Meaning

  • Original Audience: God spoke these words to King Solomon after the dedication of the temple in Jerusalem, addressing the nation of Israel under the Old Covenant regarding drought, locusts, or pestilence.
  • Application: While originally tied to ancient Israel, the principles of humility, prayer, and repentance remain practical guidelines for individuals, families, and communities today.

I was humbled to share the above message to congregation that was sending off Emannuel Mutebi yesterday Sunday in Kabarondo, Rwanda. Mutebezi passed on in Dallas, Texas, USA some weeks back.

I also reminded Rwandans to turn to God since Jesus Loves them. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

The above message was shared by Pastor Magara Darious (Uganda).
