14 The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring[a] forever. 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. (Genesis chapter 13 verse 14-17)
The billion-dollar question is, what do you see?
God is ready to bless you as far as your eyes(vision) can see. If you see little things, God will bless you in that level. If you see big things (have big dreams) God will bless you big all basing on the parameters of your faith in him.
For example, one of my sisters a Pastor believes God to bless her with a helicopter(enyonyi). She says because of being very busy in business and ministry a chopper can be very helpful in doing her work and movements than the usual known transport (transport on roads). That is part of her vision or what she sees of what she expects God to bless her with.
Similarly, I believe God to support me to build a very big ministry that has presence In Uganda and abroad in the Whiteman’s land.
A blind man in the bible said he saw people looking like trees (Mark 8;22-25). This the Jesus healing story of a blind man at Bethsaida. This man after being prayed or healed by Jesus had an impaired vision, hazy of things. He needed and was indeed given a second touch by Jesus to receive a full sight miraculously.
What people see;
Some people see open doors to nations, big ministry, children to the barren, good education, good health, prosperity and long life(positive), while other see sickness, poverty, closed doors, wars, battles, death coming near (some Pastor in Uganda confessed it until God took him), a negative medical report (negative things).
Why should God bless us as far as we can see?
When God blesses us beyond what we expect and ask sometimes we are bound to abuse the blessings since we may fail to handle them. For example, God gave Samson a lot of power that he failed or abused it and was later killed and overpowered by his enemies.
What is a blessing?
A blessing is simple: God giving you what you don’t deserve, to make you what you should be. It comes through 3 ways:
- God comes down to you; He blesses you (Psalm 103:2-4 — He forgives, heals, redeems your life.)
- To Empower — God gives you power to succeed; It’s not just words, it’s power. (Deuteronomy 8:18 — “It is he who gives you power to get wealth. “Blessing makes you able to do what you couldn’t do before).
- To Speak Well — God says good things over you; (Ephesians 1:3 — You are blessed in Christ. God says over you: “You are My child. You are forgiven. You are loved. “One Sentence: A blessing is God’s favor on you + God’s power in you + God’s presence with you. NOT just money. True blessing is: If God gives you money WITHOUT peace — that’s not a blessing. Proverbs 10:22 — “The blessing of the LORD makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. “If God gives you peace WITHOUT money — THAT IS STILL a blessing. Matthew 5:3-9 — Blessed are the peacemakers, the pure in heart…).
What should we do to be blessed of God?
- What GOD Already Did — Receive It You cannot earn blessing. You receive it. Ephesians 1:3 — “Blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing…”
John 1:12 — “To all who did receive him… he gave the right to become children of God. “Step 1: Believe in Jesus.
No Jesus = no true blessing. With Jesus, you are already blessed — forgiven, adopted, loved.
This is the root. To What WE Do — Position Ourselves for Blessing to FLOW God doesn’t bless us because we are perfect, but a disobedient life blocks the flow, like closing a tap. The Bible says blessing comes when you walk in His ways.
- A. Obey His Word — Not to earn, but to stay in the path of blessing; Deuteronomy 28:2 — “And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the LORD”
Psalm 1:1-3 — Blessed is the man who delights in the law of the Lord… in all that he does, he prospers. Read it daily — even 10 mins Do what it says — forgive, stop stealing, lying, sexual sin
- B. Walk by the Spirit — Emotional Maturity Galatians 5:16, 22 — Walk by the Spirit… the fruit is love, joy, peace, self-control. God blesses character, not just prayer. Self-control 1 Cor 9:25 brings the imperishable crown. Be slow to anger James 1:19Be faithful at work, church, family
- C. Give and Bless Others Genesis 12:2 — “I will bless you… so that you will be a blessing.” (Luke 6:38 — “Give, and it will be given to you” Acts 20:35 — “It is more blessed to give than to receive; “Blessing is a river, not a dam. If you hold it, it stops. If you give — tithe, help the poor, bless your enemies — God pours more.).
- D. Guard Your Mouth; Proverbs 18:21 — “Death and life are in the power of the tongue; “Stop cursing yourself: “I’m cursed, I’m poor, I’ll never make it. “Start speaking blessing: “The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. Psalm 23″E. Stay Close — Dwell in His Presence; Psalm 91:1 — “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.”
Numbers 6:24-26 — The blessing is His FACE shining on you. Prayer, worship, church Hebrews 10:25 — not as duty, but as staying near the Source.
- E. Pay atenith from your earnings (Malachi 3;10).
F Do good work and work; Apostle Paul says if we do not work, we should not eat. (Thessalonians 3,10-12, Colossians 3;23-24, Proverbs14;23, Proverbs 21;25).
- G. Let us pursue righteousness. God says we seek him first and righteousness all other things and blessing will be added to us. (Mathew 6;33).
I pray for you;
I pray for you that; “The LORD bless you and keep you… The LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24)).
If not born again says this prayer;
– Lord Jesus, I accept that I am a sinner, I accept Jesus to be saviour of my life, Lord forgive and wash me clean of all my sins and make me whole. Today I confess that I belong to Jesus Christ and I have become a born-again Christian, In Jesus name I pray amen.
