City Tycoon Kalungi moses Kirumira is being held by security in Kampala.
The businessman turned lawyer was reportedly yesterday arrested by State House officials ives and he is set to be arraigned in court this afternoon.
Sources in government said Kalungi sometimes called the Bill Gates of Uganda has been a subject of investigation over alleged fraudulent land and other business deals.
The government source however could not specify where he is being held by press time.
“It’s not new he has been under investigations, following complaints by some members of the public. He will be arraigned in court this after” a source said.
Mr. Karungi has of recent been in the press over a case to do with a fraudulent purchase of one of the properties of the late Tycoon Dr. Mohammed Kasasa causing children of the late to be up in arms to have him arrested and prosecuted.
It is said he bought some land belonging to the family of the late Dr. Kasasa from just one of the sons leaving out consent of others who have been on rampage of the that property alleged and illegal sale.
It was not possible to get a comment from Mr. Kalungi but sources said his wife and relatives are working around the clock to get him fled.

Why Kalungi has been arrested several times;
- Theft and Property Disputes (2020): Kalungi was arrested and remanded to Kitalya prison over allegations of theft and forcibly evicting a tenant from his building, Kalungi Plaza, over unpaid rent during the coronavirus lockdown. He allegedly took electronic items, including 23 flat-screen TVs, from the tenant’s shop without a court order. He and his son were later acquitted after the prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence.
- Assault and Sectarianism (2020): Kalungi was arrested again after he and a group of individuals allegedly assaulted a Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) officer who was at his Muyenga residence to search the premises regarding the tenant dispute. During this altercation, he was also accused of promoting sectarianism and racism. The courts subsequently dismissed the sectarianism charges.
- Erecting Illegal Structures (2006): In the earlier years of his political career, the Kampala City Council Court issued a warrant of arrest for Kalungi for constructing buildings in the city center without formal approval from the city council engineer.
