As schools plan to open on 4th September, 2022, the Government Chief Whip Hon. Denis Obua has said that the Ministry of Education is set to introduce new policy and guidelines governing schools fees structures for both private and public schools.
This came as a result of a concern raised with the Ministry about the fact most of the schools increased school fees by 50% as presented by Hon. Solomon Silwany MP for Bukooli Central. He attributed the increase to the increase in fuel and food prices. The Education Minister directed schools not to increase the school fees.
He then directed that schools should not increase fees without government approval. The session was chaired by Deputy Speaker of Thomas Tayebwa.
Government is yet to issue the new policy and guidelines governing schools fees structures for both private and public schools.
