For 130 years, Uganda has had political actors with friction, but lacked a final team to make Uganda a better place to live in.
Colonial rule (1894-1962) used friction – Baganda vs Bunyoro, Catholic vs Protestant – to rule us. The 1900 Agreements made chiefs landlords and peasants landless.
Independence in 1962 gave us political freedom under Obote and Mutesa II, but politics became friction – 1966 crisis, kingdoms abolished.
From 1971-1985 under Amin, Lule, Binaisa, Muwanga, Obote II and Okello, Uganda became pure friction. 300,000 died, factories closed.
On 26th January 1986, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni brought a team – the NRA with a 10-Point Programme. It restored peace, 1995 Constitution, UPE 1997, USE 2007, and UPDF discipline. Political emancipation was achieved.
But what remains is total emancipation – social, economic, cultural, religious and educational – and that needs a TEAM, not friction.
WHAT IS PLU?
The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) is that team. Formed in February 2024 as rebranding of the MK Movement which started in April 2022.
Its objective is to revive good citizenship, national pride, national service, protection of vulnerable persons, combating corruption and wastage of public resources, and protection of the environment.
PLU ENDORSEMENT DECLARATION: THE TEAM DECISION
PLU has made a historic Endorsement Declaration that proves it is a team, not friction:
For 2026 – PLU Endorses President Museveni:Chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba suspended his presidential ambitions and directed all PLU members to support President Museveni. PLU declared it will resume activities to ensure NRM flagbearer Gen. Museveni achieves 80% threshold. PLU and NRM launched joint mobilization and door-to-door campaigns nationwide.
For 2031 – Endorsement Books Opened:On 12th September 2026, PLU leaders in Mubende launched endorsement books for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba as next President. West Nile PLU leaders have also endorsed Muhoozi for 2031 presidency, calling him a leader with capacity and vision to take the country forward.
This is not friction – this is team transition.
WHY THIS TEAM IS OUR FINAL EMANCIPATION HOPE
Uganda does not need more political actors fighting. We need a team that moves Uganda to a better place to live in:
– Economic team that adds value to coffee, not exports raw like 1903
– Social team that ends dropout with school feeding, pads, skills
– Cultural team that believes in Made in Uganda and NARO
– Disciplined team that protects peace
That team is PLU. Its philosophy – discipline, patriotism, Pan-Africanism and socioeconomic transformation – is team philosophy.
CONCLUSION
From 1894-1962 we were divided to be ruled. From 1971-1985 we were divided and we died. From 1986-2026 we were united and we got peace.
For 2026-2031 and beyond, we need not friction of political actors, but a final team.
That team is PLU.
