Some family members of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Commissioner Internal Audit and Compliance, Dr. Protazio Begumisa have stated that their brother is un fit to lead especially as Member of Parliament an office he is currently aspiring for.
Dr. Protazio is also the former ICPAU President and a respected accountant seems un ware of politics and its maneuvers. He has clashed with most of his family members and is also hated by most of his neighbors in Kigata, Kyanamira sub county where is born who complain that he is flamboyant and arrogant.
Byamukama one of his brothers said it is true the URA commissioner is rich and a billionaire as he states but that he has a very bad character.
“Dr. Begumisa Protazio is hard working and rich but he is arrogant and proud, he has divided the family with fights among us as family and he is therefore un fit to lead to a position of MP.
He recently locked up a relative who beat his mother, you also had scandals such as burning of his campaign materials, he is into petty squabbles with family and neighbors and he is not an MP material” Byamukama stated.
In an interview with Dr Protazio, he confirmed that he had conflicts with some of his family members and recently attacked his brother Byamukama whom he said his mad.
Dr. Prutazio who has declared interest to contest the Ndorwa East Member of Parliament seat come 2021 against the incumbent Wilfred Nuwagaba complained that Nuwagaba had infiltrated his family and he is using some of his relatives to frustrate his political ambitions.
While struggling to make it in life in his early life , Dr. Protazio worked as garden guard who would fight birds and ‘efukuzi’ to protect gardens and that he was very skilled at that job in the village.
The URA commissioner is a son of the late Kajoka who was a local mansion and was also said to be arrogant and proud. “Kajoka was a mansion who was arrogant and proud and when he became broke he mysteriously died” a neighbor stated.
Dr. Protazio recently told the press that his credentials are better than Nuwagaba the opposition Attorney General and that besides Nuwagaba’s failure to debate in parliament he has not also delivered in the constituency forcing him to aspire for the same seat.
“If I win the NRM primaries next year, Nuwagaba will become history because I have more money than him and am I am an NRM candidate. I am a billionaire” he stated.
Nuwagaba who is serving his 3rd term as MP is presently independent. He was expelled from the ruling NRM party after he was labeled a rebel MP but seems very strong on the ground for opposing NRM’s failures especially corruption and mismanagement of the Government resources and poor social service delivery.
Although the URA commissioner brags of being a billionaire the constituents have demanded that he builds a house (home) in the constituency instead of staying in Kabale town hotels where he takes shelter whenever he visits Kabale.
“I know Dr Protazio is a billionaire and he is now aspiring to lead as our MP for Ndorwa East but he needs to first build a house and have a home in the constituency where we can always meet him when we want to see him.
We shall not vote a homeless billionaire for MP he must demonstrate that he can leave with the local people,” a voter stated.
Dr. Protazio will face three candidates in the NRM primaries, Grace and Kenneth and Pauson Tindimwebwa. He (Dr. Protazio) reportedly asked them to step down in his favour on grounds that they are poor so that they given him chance to face off with the incumbent because he is a billionaire.
