Jacqueline Susan Ruhindi Mbabazi is a UgandanĀ educator, politician and businesswoman. She is the wife of the former prime minister of Uganda, Amama Mbabazi.
She has declared interest to become a Member of Parliament to represent Older Persons western region of Uganda.
Jacqueline Mbabazi was born 18th August 1954, she is passionate and social and generous.
She is also is a UgandanĀ educator, politician and businesswoman.

She is the former Chairperson of the Women’s League in theĀ National Resistance Ā MovementĀ (NRM), the ruling political party in Uganda.
She is a steady leader and just that they say that behind a successful man you always have a great woman so Jacqueline Mbabazi has made significant contributions to Uganda and her presence in Parliament will speak volumes if she is elected as expected because of her leadership abilities and qualities.
Who is Jacqueline Mbabazi?
The fourth of eleven children, she was born inĀ Rukungiri DistrictĀ on 18th August 1954 and is the daughter of Canon Gereshomu and Evalina Ruhindi.
Jacqueline Mbabazi attended several primary schools inĀ Kabale district, where her father worked for theĀ Church of Uganda. She attendedĀ Bweranyangi Girls’ Senior Secondary SchoolĀ inĀ Bushenyi DistrictĀ for her OāLevel education. She then transferred toĀ Trinity College NabbingoĀ for her AāLevel studies. In 1973, she joinedĀ Makerere University,Ā Uganda‘s largest and oldestĀ public university, graduating in 1976, with the degree ofĀ Bachelor of ScienceĀ (BSc) and a concurrentĀ Diploma in Education. During the early 1980s, she continued her education inĀ SwedenĀ by obtaining theĀ Diploma in the Swedish LanguageĀ and the degree ofĀ Master of SciencesĀ (MSc) inĀ Biotechnology. Later she also obtained aĀ Diploma in International ManagementĀ atĀ Sigtuna,Ā Sweden.
Work experience
Following her studies at Makerere University, she taught atĀ Kitante Hill Secondary School, between 1976 until 1981. Following her return from exile in 1988, she worked with the Uganda Ministry of Defence, to set up the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), a government organisation that aimed to re-integrate retired soldiers from theĀ Uganda Bush WarĀ into civilian life.
She was one of the Ugandan technocrats who founded theĀ Uganda Revenue AuthorityĀ (URA) in 1992. Her initial position at the URA was Assistant Commissioner for Customs and Excise. She later became Deputy Commissioner and then Commissioner for Customs and Excise. In 1999, she left the Uganda Revenue Authority, to form, along with others, the Agency for National Development, aĀ non-governmental organisationĀ to help youth and women. She served as a non-Executive Director and Head of Training. After 3 years in that position, she served as theĀ Managing DirectorĀ of Luweero Industries Limited, a government-owned small-arms manufacturer. She retired from government service.
On 8 December 2017 Mbabazi was appointed as chairperson for the board of directors of theĀ Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority.
Personal details
She is married to the formerĀ prime ministerĀ of Uganda,Ā Amama Mbabazi. They have six children and eleven grandchildren.Ā Jacqueline Mbabazi is fluent inĀ Runyakitara,Ā EnglishĀ andĀ Swedish.
Other responsibilities
Following her retirement from civil service, she now works full-time for the Agency for National Development.
